Young Swedish Design is Sweden's foremost award and exhibition for young designers, creators, and architects.
Since its inception in 1998, it has highlighted the next generation of design innovators and given the public a clear view of what lies ahead in Swedish design.
Every year, hundreds of young designers, creators, and architects from across the country submit their works to the open call. A contemporary and interdisciplinary jury selects around twenty submissions for the exhibition, but the selection process also results in 18 scholarships being awarded by leading figures in the design world. The scholarships are given independently of whether the work is chosen for the exhibition and offer opportunities for production, internships, mentorship, or further development within their respective fields.
This year’s exhibition presents a powerful cross-section of the most relevant, experimental, and sharp-minded design in Sweden, a collective imprint of our time and a glimpse of the future. Common to all is a strong grounding in craftsmanship, deep material knowledge, and a desire to say something about the world. Many works touch on issues of sustainability, reuse, and circularity. Others revolve around identity, inclusion, and our place in a changing society. It is design that both shapes and is shaped by its time, with equal parts intuition and intellect. Young
Swedish Design 2026 is more than an exhibition and an award; it is a reflection in form, an invitation to contemplation, and an open door into the design landscape of tomorrow.
